Devil and the Deep Sea!!!

(ummm, this post too can add to the series of rant...even when i hadnt intended!!
looks like tye typical july mood.)

I changed jobs recently....

let's call it A-BIG-COMPANY, A-GREAT-PROFILE

...both of which are very different from the last company and role I had; and a great career move, or why the hell would I take all that pain.

And it was not just the overwhelming well wishes of my friends and relative that I had to accept, there were a few wishes of a very different kind too, hurled at me.......and eventually I did develop the spirit to handle them.

That's why I am writing this post today.

Some of the phrases below might not sound so offensive, when you read them here, but trust me, I was at the receiving end of those words, complete with the sound and the tone, and I can vouch for the fact that each one of them was a perfect killer.

Scenario I (Face-to-face)

Mr.X asked me point blank - "So which is this company you have got into?"

Keeping all the corpocorate clauses in mind, and more than that, just not feeling like divulging this particular information to this particular person, I was trying all possible ways to avoid giving a direct answer.

So the next dialog that came my way was this -

"Now don't freak me out by saying that you got into A-BIGGER-COMPANY."

I wish I could have killed him that moment.

What the hell, what did he mean by that exact choice of words.
Since it was the first time, I held myself back, gave the sickest smile possible, told him all he wanted to know and RAN, coz I wanted to get out of there asap.

What had the poor me known, that the trend had just started......

Scenario II (Over-the-phone)

Mr.Y exclaimed - "So how come they took you into a A-GREAT-PROFILE?"

This time I retorted - "What do you mean by that?"; I was pissed, and I made no qualms of hiding my irritation this time. I said it out and aloud, that this was offending and not acceptable.

And after that I was in no mood to listen to the exhaustaive explanation, of what he really meant and what he did not. I just slammed the phone down.

Guess, I was getting to get a hang of it, eventually.

Scenario III (On-the-messenger)

My current profile on YM has an inspired-by-Harry-Potter witch avatar, complete with a Firebolt broomstick, so here comes another, with his expert-unaskedfor-comment.....

Mr.Z - By the way, what's yr avatar doing with the broomstick.....don't tell me thats what u're currently doing, in A-BIG-COMPANY.

By now, I had become an expert at the game, so I actually laughed out loudly when I saw this message pop up on my screen.

Needless to say, I didn't reply to it, and would probably not in a lifetime.

.
.
.

I don't know what were the ideas or ideologies that spurred those thoughts or brought out those comments - all I know is, these exactly are some of the things I ll not understand in this lifetime - precisely because I chose not to.

I, for one, would never be able to dish out something like that......for me just the chololate cake persists.

hyde i was more concerned with conveying a scenario, than the nitty gritties of criterias and technicalities.

fyi, all measures or comparisons are relative, biased with my frame of reference and desire.

.....i dont think i have to add a disclaimer to a blog i call my own.

.. though i never knew a change of jobs can have such side effects too :p
Guess i m lucky not to hv had any of 'em in my career. or i might hv faced such scenarios but i never took them so seriously and thought bout 'em as much.

can i quote your own wise words:
the oracle says - life will be better. And then adds into the finer prints - (matrix eshtyle) you will be told exactly what you need to hear.

:-) tk care.
