Breaking Rules

[time to write]

She was living in days - hours, to be precise. Had long ago given up thinking or planning or waiting in weeks and days too.

And then he asked her out.

"This weekend" he had said - she couldn't help but laugh at it. She knew, or thought she knew, just too well, what happens in a matter of few days.
Insistent he had been - all men are initially. They probably feel they have a divine right to be so, and hence over ages women have cultivated a habit or saying 'No' to everything, coz they know, eventually it won't matter one way or the other. At least it would let them throw a few tantrums around.

But she hadn't had time to think all that. Didn't I say before, she lived in too small spaces to allow thinking.

So they had a date.

"I like making it difficult for you."
"Why?" He was oh so curious.
"Just to make sure you work hard."

They both had a mind of their own. And she knew, or again thought she knew, it would burn out - fast. Her only fear was - what if it did not? Then again, no thinking rule helped her through.
Yet she couldn't help looking back - well the rule didn't extrapolate so well for thinking backwards - and not think of fingers entwined. The tips were a pressure point, caresses electrified.

"I need to stop thinking backwards too", said a voice in her head.

Yet cracks had started appearing beneath the surface, she could faintly hear them but categorically decided not to explore - for it still let her disbelieve. She was looking forward to the next weekend.

"It is less than a week - so I ve still maintained the rule".
...she tried not to worry...

"I ll be gone for a month," he said the next day.
