He nodded a yes.
By the time she came back with it, he had lighted a cigarette, and was blowing rings in the air.
Years and years had passed by, but some things had not changed.
"Wonder if they ever will?"
Sometimes, she tried....
"Would you please mind not smoking. It's not good for YOU."
And she would get those quirky looks.
People told her not to mind, and after a while it wasn't an aberration anymore. It became the norm. Living with it day in and day out, she resigned to it. She resigned to her own life too.
But then maybe that is what working in an uptown restaurant for fifteen years would do to anybody.
She pitied these young people who were blowing up their life in smoke.
And lives of their loved ones, whom they brought to The Haze to celebrate.

great thought. Smoking Is Injurious To Health, as it says on the cover of a cigarette pack. It is one of the cases where Ignorance is Bliss, but not for too long !!
