It happens.

They met and they clicked. It was a good start. They had so much to say, so much to share with each other. Days seemed too short and nights endless. They promised to stay together forever, through thick and thin.

A friendship bloomed as it had never bloomed before. Each thought that he had found his soul mate/brother/sister.
Soon a peak was reached. A saturation point. Each knew what the other was about to say, and what he man when he said it, or what he was not saying at all. They felt fulfilled. And they became easy, too easy.

And then started the trough. Soon they ran out of talks. There were some sprinkles of silence, and then some more. Now they found less and less to say, and had more and more to hide. Anger, irritation and frustration set in one after the other. Soon they reached a point when it became difficult to bear the very presence of other. They cldnt get past two sentences without getting into an argument of some sort.

Now they had two choices. One – to snap it altogether. The other – to let it be in whtever pitiable state it was out of pity for what it once was.

What can I say? Shit happens.
