Why is it that only in the times of a cricis do we realise our true potential. Maybe coz, in cricis, we are all alone. All the glitterati we generally lean on in the course of our everyday existence viz. money, friends, work, false securities, false hopes, and promises.....they are all shattered in one go.
And that is when you realize that you only have your potential, however meager it may be, to lean upon.
That is when you actually see the mirror for the first time, how you really are, without all those frills and fancies.
At this point some choose to enhance that which is there and make it better, so that next time they are stronger and more capable.
And some chose to hide away, fearing that the next blow will take away even that which exists.

Isin't it the fear of not being able to accept that which you once found acceptable.
Fear of losing that false notion, that you are good enough for any team!
Well, you didn't make it to the cricket team, and that's when you realize that you weren't good enough for cricket in the first place.
Why blame the coach, why blame yourself, or any damn person/ circumstance/ supernatural for this.
If these myths are never shattered, and they aren't till, you love and lose, one never gets to know his/her true self.
I personally wld always go with "It is better to have loved and lost... ".
